US-based DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymer's latest online modeling tool is designed to help packaging engineers and designers identify the appropriate sealant and to explore ways to handle sealing challenges.

The new tool used in combination with the DuPont SaVE (Sealant Value Estimator) helps packaging engineers and designers quickly identify the 'critical few' potential sealant resin options from a range of possible choices.

DuPont Packaging & Industrial Polymers (DuPont) technical fellow Barry Morris said time-saving data is important in the present competitive environment as speedy insights can get an engineer/designer on track to the right solution quickly.

"The idea is to quickly get to a short list of material-based solutions that are the most likely to work in a specific packaging application," said Morris.

The tool also offers base-case idea starters for sealing solutions in typical applications ranging from pharmaceutical packaging to meat and dairy packaging. Technical data sheets are available for download to further speed the selection process.
